CORPORATION, INC. (PHILCOMSAT), a wholly owned subsidiary of PHILIPPINE
OVERSEAS TELECOMMUNICATIONS CORPORATION (POTC) is an enfranchised
and licensed Philippine Public Telecommunications Entity (PTE)
35% owned by the government of the Republic of the Philippines.
PHILCOMSAT, as the Philippine satellite pioneer has for almost
four (4) decades made the world smaller for the Filipinos, making
distances irrelevant by providing the medium for people to communicate
within the archipelago and across oceans and continents whether
it be through voice/fax, data, audio, video, broadcast TV, Internet
and/or IP Multi-media Applications which have had relevant effect
on the lives of every person(s) and enterprise(s) in the country.
At present the Company is positioned to benefit from the convergence
of the global communications and Internet Protocol technologies,
specifically the WIFI (Wireless Fidelity) and VoIP (Voice over
Internet Protocol) application and technology. While WIFI hi-speed
wireless connectivity to the Internet “hotspots” and
“hot zones” continues to gain awareness, the Company
offers WIFI-WIMAX wireless IP network capabilities including WIFI
enabling devices from WIFI phones to laptops to manufacturers
and IT/IP solution based companies.
By harnessing the revolutionary IP and WIFI-WIMAX wireless technology
breakthrough, PHILCOMSAT is able to capitalize not only on the
wired Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) market and other WIFI
enabled devices but also enjoys a first-mover advantage into the
wireless WIFI market. The company is competitive with existing
telecom service providers in offering WIFI VoIP products. PHILCOMSAT
offers limitless opportunities with telecom service providers
to co- or joint-marketing by the converging forces of global telecommunications
and Internet Protocol through the Information and Communications
Technology (ICT).
